A Brief History of Mountain View Sports

Mountain View Sports was founded in 1983 by long time Keystone residents, Bob and Mary Johnson.  Our then, small shop was a two person operation run by none-other than Bob and Mary themselves with the occasional help from their two young sons.  Bob first got his feet wet in the ski industry in the early 1960's working weekends in the rental shop of Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.  When Keystone opened in 1970, Bob became the ski area's first rental shop manager and during his time off he was up on the hill teaching his young sons to ski.  When the opportunity arose, Bob and Mary opened up their very own rental shop with the goal of offering the best customer service and equipment available.  As Keystone became more and more popular, so did we.  In 1992, our shop was growing rapidly and the Johnsons brought on a young fellow by the name of Scot Jardon to manage the shop.

Less than 10 years later, Scot became partners with Bob and Mary and eventually bought them out in 2004.  He took heed of the Johnson's business philosophy about how taking care of ones customers brings word of mouth and generations of returning customers.  Today, thanks to the Johnson's and Scot's hard work, we have grown to become Keystone's premier family owned ski, board and bike shop that offers year-round activities from skiing and snowboarding to biking and Vail Pass Bike shuttles.
